A simple Story

Once upon a time, a traveler arrived at the gate of a city after a long and exhausting journey. He paused for a moment, gazing at the city and pondering about the people who lived within. Nearby, he noticed an old man sitting quietly. The traveler approached him and inquired about the kind of people who resided in the city.

The old man replied with curiosity, "What were the people like in the place you left behind?"

The traveler frowned, reflecting on his past. "They were selfish and unkind, caring only for themselves," he answered. The old man nodded thoughtfully. "You will find the same type of people here," he said, offering a sympathetic gaze.

The traveler sighed, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over him.

Not long after, another traveler arrived at the same city, walking briskly and taking in the surroundings with enthusiasm. He spotted the old man and stopped to ask, "What kind of people live here?"

Once again, the old man regarded him calmly and asked, "What were the people like where you came from?"

With a bright smile, the traveler responded, "They were kind and generous, always ready to lend a helping hand." The old man nodded once more. "You will find the same kind of people here," he said, eliciting a grateful smile from the traveler before he entered the city, filled with joy.

This story reminds us that our perceptions of others often reflect our inner state. If we carry anger, distrust, and fear, we will likely see those qualities in those around us. Conversely, if we embody kindness, hope, and love, we will notice goodness everywhere.

In essence, the world mirrors what we bring into it. We have a choice in our lives: to discover goodness, we must first cultivate it within ourselves. Just as a mirror reflects our image, the world reflects our own inner qualities.

Do you have discipline?

I recently watched an amazing before-and-after video about a guy who lost half his body weight in one year.
He said staying disciplined and never giving up were the keys to his success.

Discipline, huh? That’s something I could use a little more of. I’m always losing focus and getting distracted much too easily.

Like that time I tried to start a workout routine. I was excited at first, but after a few days, I kept coming up with excuses to skip it.

That’s something a lot of people can relate to. It’s hard to keep going when the excitement from the beginning starts to fade.

And because I didn’t stick with it, I didn’t see any results. That was really frustrating.

It’s true that without discipline, we often find ourselves stuck in the same place. We want to move forward, but we keep going in circles.

They say it’s the backbone of success. Without it, achieving goals becomes much harder.

There’s a famous study from Stanford University called the “Marshmallow Test.”

Oh, I’ve heard about that! They gave kids a choice to eat one marshmallow now or wait and get two later.

The kids who demonstrated discipline and waited to get two marshmallows ended up being more successful later in life.
